I have upgraded my hardware. I did a fresh install of 24.7. Can I backup the config on 20.1 and import/restore it to 24.7?

I just replaced our sonicwall with an OPNsense box. Everything is setup pretty much default. I can't ping other computers. Also, my computers are not showing up under network in file manager.

I have 2 choices of network setup... Which do you all prefer and why?

MODEM<-static->OPNsense<-DHCP->HUB<-->SERVER&WORKSTATIONS (OPNsense serves DHCP)

MODEM<-statc->OPNsense<-static->SERVER<-DHCP->HUB&WORKSTATIONS (Server serves DHCP)

In the second option the server has a WAN Port for the OPNsense appliance and a LAN port to serve the workstations

FOr the second option I need to know how to setup a static IP between the server and OPNsense appliance

I would like to try a port forward.. However, the config of the NAT forwarding is a little more than I am used to....

I know the wan IP (27.134.6.91) and the IP of the computer I am wanting to remote to (192.168.3.101).. I also know that I want to forward port 3389... but where to put all the numbers i dunno...

How do I configure a port forward on OPNsense. I am used to doing port forwarding on basic routers, but cannot find the same terminology or similar looking interface to enter the port forward to my server...

I only have one server and have put the appliance between the modem and server... I am able to access the internet so I think I have all the basics (default) right...

I really appreciate all the help you all have given me in implementing OPNsense in my office.

I have installed OPNsense on an appliance and have it installed between my modem and my server...

I have windows 7 pro at home and windows 2008 R2 at my office.

What must I do to be able to remote into my server at my office?

I am somewhat a newb to firewall software.

I want to be able to remote in. Not sure how to set that up with OPNsense.

Also, I am setting this up for a dentist office that has a local server. The main software runs local on the server. The office only uses the internet for surfing, backup and updates.

What is the recommended configuration for OPNsense?

What things should I be careful not to screw up configuration wise?

Went ahead with a TP-LINK TL-WR841HP 300Mbps High Power Wireless N Router... Working really nice ;)

Used AMD64 VGA IMG and USB install worked like a charm. Runs flawlessly..
