For all ill-intentioned pfsense fans

I got a feeling that some users here report false bugs or issues (or repeat existing ones) just to highlight how well pfsense works.

Please stop. If pfsense works out that good for you, you have no reason to be threatened by OPNsense. Any other intentions will only discredit pfsense by your actions, and not OPNsense.

This is getting really annoying, it's childish and ridiculous. And will have a significant negative impact on pfsense. Please, stay on your forum, it's better for everyone.

indeed... not sure if a post like this will do anything...

best to ignore and moderate IMHO

It's just a feeling, not a certainty, can't know for sure, so I can't really point fingers and I won't. But if it's true, I certainly stand by my comment.

Smile sagely, take a deep breath and do as @bitman says.

Yeah, ignorance is bliss, I know, I do it all the time, with a few exceptions :)

It's not that bad. It's a fair point and it shows that both projects have diverged in code in the last 3 years.

We have bugs and fixes and everybody else has, too.

I'm happy there's no daily report of the things that do work. ;)

Cheers,
Franco

It's not bad if it's done in good faith. It's quite good, it means there's a healthy competitive market in play to which each player reacts in some way.
But it's bad if false stuff are thrown publicly. Bad for them, as these are easily verifiable, can be confirmed as being bogus and leads to nowhere in the end. I was referring to these cases (if my judgement is not faulty), where bad faith is the single fuel of these posts.

Which post are you worried about?

Plus, remember, such posts may be designed to create emotional responses. Best to not give any.

I have a few posts and comments on my radar, but I can't be sure if it's the case, and so I will not point them out, in case I'm wrong. This will only add negative feedback to the OPNsense community, and that is not the scope of this topic, so I'll stick to a general approach :)

I get the sense that some people here are overly sensitive.  But I could be wrong, they may be ultra sensitive, so I won't call out any names.

Yes, because you should always blame others first. ;)

You can report them so only the moderators and admins get notified - so in theory you can do a non-public disclosure.

Sound like the political climate here in the US where we have trolls everywhere trying to discredit.

I have stated previously that the attitudes are ultimately why I made the switch. Also, the product here is way better.

Heard a term recently that I think describes it pretty well.

Welcome to the "post-truth world we are living in".  The house of falsehood cards will ultimately collapse.  But until then watch your back and don't take anyone's word for anything.  Especially if it comes from ANY means of mass communication.  Consider it to be false propaganda.

What makes it possible is the masses with no discernment ability i.e. lack of critical thinking skills.  Largely a result of government schooled brainwashing.

Makes it so easy for politicians to whip people up into a frenzy with false and misleading propaganda.
