Atheros AR9280 support
« on: November 21, 2016, 10:17:06 am »
Hi,

I've got a Compex WLE200NX (Atheros 9280) that although it seems to be recognised, is not showing up as parent interface.

root@gw01:~ # dmesg | grep Atheros
ath0: <Atheros 9280> mem 0xfe800000-0xfe80ffff at device 0.0 on pci4

Thanks for your help!

I can confirm that. The WLE200NX ran until 16.7.7 perfectly but under 17.1 it is currently not activatable.

FreeBSD overhauled the wireless stack in 11.0. With 17.1 being based on FreeBSD 11.0, additional work is planned to support wireless. Don't fret: we know about the issue. We just gotta do a little extra work to support the wireless stack overhaul.

Thanks for your answers!

In that case would it be ok to downgrade, considering it's a pcengines alu2?

Hi Manu,

APU2 may need an USB fix, but you can use 16.7, sure.

I ended up using a tiny core usb and installed the 16.7 directly on the sdd using the nano install.

Everything seems to be working as expected :)

Hi Till,

Sometimes APU won't find the root file system, the fix described in the ticket is needed. If it works without it, that's fine, too.
