Inquiry Regarding OPNsense Plugins for Intrusion Detection System (IDS)

I am writing to inquire about OPNsense Plugins, specifically regarding the Intrusion Detection System (IDS). I am wondering if suricata is the only engine available for use with IDS, or if there are other options like Snort, similar to pfSense.

While browsing through the Plugins, I noticed that Snort was available as an option. However, it seemed that Snort was only using suricata and obtaining Snort's rules. Could you please clarify if Snort is available as a standalone IDS engine or if it only works with suricata?
