High availability / question about backup firewall in High availability

Hi,

I just finished setting up OPNsense High availability for the first time and I can see from the dashboard that 1x firewall is master and the other is backup.

Could anyone please tell me if this message is normal on the backup firewall?
System > High availability > Status
System: High Availability: Status

Code: [Select]

The backup firewall is not accessible or not configured.
Did I miss a step?

Hi all,

I created a new vlan using my LAN as the parent interface and the computer in that vlan subnet can access the internet and ping the OPNsense gateway with no issue. The computer IP can be seen in the ARP and state tables as well as in the DHCP lease table. Could anyone please help me understand why in the firewall interface diagnostics, the firewall is not able to ping that computer? When I move the same computer to my normal LAN interface I have no problem pigging it so that suggest it not the windows firewall blocking it but I cannot figure out why OPNsense cannot pint it.


Could anyone please assist me in understanding the reason why?

Hi,

I created a new user last week and for some reason, the user is always enable to connect via OpenVPN. When we looked at the issue we noticed that the user account is disabled. We re-enabled it but after a while (few hours) it get disabled again.

I cannot figure out what log to look at to understand this issue.

Could anyone please provide some guidance?

Opnsense version: 21.7.8
Flavour: LibreSSL

Virtual private networks / Freeradius with openvpn static IP

Hi,

I did setup Freeradius plugin with open VPN and I my client can login to the remote site with no problem.
The issue that we are having is that the client get a dynamic IP address instead of the static ip we assigned to it when creating the user. Bellow is a screenshot

We are expecting to see the client receiving the IP 192.168.4.100 but it get a dynamic instead.

Hi,

I just created a radius server using this https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/user-radius.html?highlight=radius
System ‣ Access ‣ Servers and click on Add server

When I go System ‣ Access ‣ Tester I enter my user details but I cannot authenticate

Could anyone please tell me how do I add my user to the radius server?

Hi all,

I am currently running version 17.7.11.. Is it safe for me to proceed to the update using the web interface?
The next version seems to be 18.1.r1 all the way to 18.1.4.

Web Proxy Filtering and Caching / cannot download ACLs

When I click on Download ACLS, nothing happear in the category..

I also have the sme issue in intrusion detection section..

When I click on download and update rules, nothing id happening

Hi Guys!

I just installed OPNsense for the first time and I have a question...
How do I need to setup the wan interface to work with a DHCP and DNS server hosted on a windows server?

So far, the WAN and the DHCP seem to be working ok..
From the OPNsense box, I can ping the DHCP server and the outside world (google.com)
From the LAN, I can ssh to remote server, ping the outside world with no problem but I CANNOT browse the internet..

If I manually set the desktop ethernet cart DNS to 8.8.8.8, then I can browse the internet..

So how do we set this up in OPNsense?
How do I tell my WAN that he nood to use the DNS server on the windows machine?
