IPv4 address is being used by another interface or VIP

In an attempt to fix the update issue I decided to turn off IPV6 as it appeared to be not working anyway.
When I tried to do this on the LAN I got the message in the subject. I looked for a bit and then reasoned that I would need to change the router IP then change it back. I changed it fine, when I came to change it back though I still get the message.
I unplugged my network from the router and plugged my workstation directly in (incase something on the network was causing the clash) alas issue is still there.
I've turned off all the plugins that I can and still I get the message. The address will ping from the router however nothing else can see it at all. It feels like this address is on the router. How do I find out where it is so that I can get my router back on the address it should be on?

Found it.
It wasn't a service. It was an OpenVPN server I had created. Forgotten it as I could not get it working, so I decided to load ntopng, which then needed redis and then I encountered the won't update so I can't get Redis...
sigh... every step is a challenge with this thing :-(

I suggest you do a clean install. It may be there are other things you have 'forgotten' about that are affecting you.
Best method is a clean install, basic firewall/router set up with no extras, then back up the configuration. Rename it so you know it's a working fallback configuration that will get you back to a running system at any time.
Now start adding whatever you want and save and rename the config after every change...
This way you can always fall back if needed. I have a directory full of various config settings.

Okay, sounds logical.
Is the config available in a shared location that I could wrap in a GIT package? That way I could mod and save configs and have the ability to back them out easily?

Where you save it to is up to you.

Is it possible to get a snapshot of the device itself? In this case the files missing are not part of the config so I cannot recover to a previous state.

By saving the configuration files all you need to do is re-load the configuration. If for some strange reason operating files have been lost then you are better off doing a clean installation and importing the configuration during installation, of if that is not possible due to a corrupt drive or other issue, then import if in the GUI once installation is completed.

Okay that makes sense. I plan to do a fresh install and config and save the config step by step. Just have to do the initial connect with the router not in situ so I can plug a monitor into it.
