Firmware Update Fails

This is in continuation to the earlier post in 17.x version which is here (https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=6969.0).  The issue still persists in the 18.x version too

I have noticed this behavior forever.  Whenever the update tab is pressed it always fails with the message "Firmware status check was aborted internally. Please try again." But the page lists any new firmware available in the list below.  If I click update again it successfully updates.   I considered this a nuisance, but it would be good if this can be resolved.
Another suggestion that I have is regarding disabling the list of every single update from the day OPNsense was launched (15.1) Since all branches other than 18 is not supported or even revertible to having this in the update tab serves no purpose as the information is available on the OPNsense webpage anyway.  It would be much cleaner to have only the last few updates listed (maybe 4)

Omg, so i'm not the only one... I needed a psychiatrist and 3 years of treatment to get over this..  ;D I mean the disabling the older updates part ;D

Ok, I'm sorry, was rewatching "Friends" again and I'm kind of in a "Chandler mood" ;D

Are you having errors listed in the dashboard -> network statistics? Or Interfaces -> Overview -> WAN? Or are you having DNS issues occasionally, like websites sometimes don't resolve immediately? Do you have any custom MTU set for the WAN?

I am not having any errors on the interface.  I am running a separate DNS so am not able to comment on DNS resolution from OPNsense.

Are you hitting "Check for updates" before the update list populates?

I am having the same issue

Firmware status check was aborted internally. Please try again.
OPNsense 18.1.5-amd64
FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p8
OpenSSL 1.0.2n 7 Dec 2017
OPNsense v18| Qotom minipc Q190G4U-S02 |Intel Celeron Processor J1900(Quad-Core 2M Cache,2 GHz, up to 2.41 GHz)4 LAN Mini PC | 8GB ram | 120GB msata

Same issue here.... .  since and including the 17 series.  Click to check for updates from dashboard always aborts the first time.  Works the second  time you click though.
As  bigops states, the list of new firmware does actually populate

Then don't click the "Click to view full changelog history." link.

They are already disabled by default.  Only the most recent dozen show here.

As for serves no purpose; au contraire!  It is very convenient to look at change history for a fix etc.

Just a quirk that has low priority I assume. Sometimes it works on the first try, but usually always works on the second for me.
