Serial vs VGA version of AMD64 installers

I've installed the vga-amd64 version of the current OPNsense distro. However, I do not get a login prompt on my console monitor after the system finishes booting. Otherwise, the installation works perfectly in all respects (afaik), I can access the GUI, etc. When I connect to the serial port however, I do see the login prompt there (and it does work).
Is this by design?

Ah... that may be it, thanks. I'm going to try that. But I got the idea that since the distro is offered in serial and VGA versions that it would be something that was built into the system.

Works fine on my Qotom using HDMI. To be fair though, once I am past the basic setup and into the GUI I then enable SSH and use Putty or similar.

Yes - things seem to work fine over both serial and VGA when I have both options checked. I'm guessing that the difference in the distros has to do with the fact that you have to choose one or the other before your install is configured?

Dual-console setups are a bit iffy in FreeBSD and may slow down boot time and general usability so Serial and VGA images are single-purpose images. Nano is different, tailored for Serial with additional VGA capability. DVD is like VGA, mostly for VMs.
Cheers,
