18.1 puts my box into a boot loop.
« on: February 13, 2018, 06:40:31 pm »
was running 17.7x, did the webGUI update to 18.1, and it worked fine, until i rebooted.

it boots the EFI, loads all the .ko files, shows blue text BOOTING, and then resets the box, loop.

(box: HP sff 6300, i3, 8gb, booting off 16gb sata SSD, two intel nics.)

okay fine, i'll do a fresh install...

burn the 18.1 to to a dvd, boot to that, loop.

wipe the SSD, just be sure it's not affecting the bootup. boot to the dvd, loop.

download the 18.1 .img file and write to a usb thumb drive, boot to that, loop.

write the image directly to the SSD, boot off that, loop.

...

download 17.7.5 installed that. everything is fine. reboots fine.

Hi there,

Yeah, FreeBSD 11.1 does this differently, unfortunately. E.g. https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=6841.msg29723#msg29723

Cheers,
