CPU ussage problem

Hi,

I've detected something regarding CPU ussage and may be it's not right.

I have migrated from pfSense about 3 months ago and sinse then it happened two times that I had to reboot my router because it started to consume more CPU.

Using top I've realized that whet it's under heavy CPU ussage there exists about 90 processes running and after rebooting the number of processes return to about 50.

Most of the processes are PHP and they consume 60% of the CPU in average against 10% consumed after reboot.

As my router is virtualized under VMWare ESXi you can see the attached CPU graph.

Don't know if it is normal or a malfunction.

I know it, but I want to emphasize that right now there are about 50 processes runing, and some of them are PHP.
But erlier today, before rebooting, there were 90 processes running, most of them PHP ones, and the only thing I did was rebooting the router.
After rebooting, the system worked just as before but using only 10% of the CPU against the 60% that was being used before.

This is not helpful unless: you post "ps aux" output of your system at the time of the high cpu usage and/or post which services / plugins you generally enable on your firewall. Some services generate more load than others... that's the only certainty.

Hi Franco,

   after las update, my system got high CPU ussage again. From what is usually 51 processes it scaled up to 90 processes.
   I realized that because I started to hear delay and glitches when using my phone through the PBX.
   So I did a ps aux as you told me and then rebooted the router and made a ps aux with the system just restarted.
   These are the plugins I have installed os-dyndns, os-ftp-proxy, os-monit, os-relayd, os-vmware and os-wol.
   Realyd is not configured yet.
   I attached two logs 50.txt and 90.txt.
   90.txt is ps aux after the system slow down and 50.txt is the log after the system reboot.

Hi,
  today I've experimented a slowdown again. And as Franco told me, I've made a PS AUX before reboot and another after reboot.
  I'm sending an attach with both outputs compared side by side.
  I think that it's a good way to see the differences and may be it's useful (I hope)
