Console menu needs user and password

I very recently reinstalled OPNsense on a spare / lab pc and reconfigured it from backups. Everything worked smoothly.

One thing I remembered I wish was different is the boot up on the console. I have to enter a user / password to get to the system menu. I remember on pfSense you booted to the system menu. This was preferable to me as there was one time where I has to reset the admin password because I forgot it. The OPNsense default would cause me to need to reinstall.

Is there an option I don't know about that would allow root to keep the password but open up the default console boot to whoever has access to the box?

Sure.

System > Settings > Administration > Console.

Uncheck "Password protect the console menu".

Darn to Heck those programmers who didn't put that in 30 point blinking red text.

Thank you.
