Stability issues with Fujitsu Futro S920 running OPNsense

Hello everyone,
I'm currently managing a network setup for a friend, which includes a Fujitsu Futro S920 running OPNsense that is experiencing intermittent crashes, resets, or reboots. While troubleshooting, I suspect the issue may be load-dependent, although my tests haven't provided a conclusive answer yet.
The system is equipped with an Intel Pro 1000 quad card that might be related to the issues.
My friend's approach to upgrades seems to be waiting for a spontaneous coffee spill to justify replacements.
Given that this setup isn't critical but still causes annoyance, any advice or insights on effective troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,

normally symptom of a hardware problem. OPN is very stable, it rarely reboots or crashes as a result of bad configuration#.

I have no doubt about the stability of OPNsense, I have it deployed on many firewalls, its very reliable and i love it so far.
Maybe there are steps to further debug the crashes/resets.
Is there a log for shutdown reasons or somewhere i can start looking for the exact reason?

Like any OS, crashes can be tricky to find cause. Logs can at times not leave a record of what lead up to the crash. I suggest starting with dmesg.

If this box has got a serial interface, enable the serial console, hook up a PC to that until the next crash.

The user manual suggests that it might have two db9 serial ports, so that would be a good suggestion to monitor the port and see if it spits out anything. You should also be able to set the logging to serial port, might be a lot of info to go through, but might give you better insight into what's happening.
