Captive Portal and AP with VLAN

I want to differentiate access to network services by creating VLANs to be used for both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections.
I was thinking of also using a Captive Portal; in this way users of different types are associated with different VLANs.
However, the Access Point allows you to create different SSIDs by associating them with VLANs. I'm wondering whether to use this service too or whether I'm going to complicate things instead.
