question on PPPoEv6

How do I use it as if I turn on the PPPoEv6 I don't get an IP address. but if i choose DHCPv6 and then for the LAN IPV6 to track interface then i get an IP but is that the correct way in doing so?

Standard engineer answer - it depends  8)

If your ISP gives you a /64 (static or dynamic) then tracking WAN is most likely okay ('correct' may not be an appropriate term). However that marks your ISP as a bit of a dinosaur since there are plenty of IPv6 addresses for every subscriber to get at least a static /56 delegation. The IPv6 address space is enormous, to quote Douglas Adams: https://libquotes.com/douglas-adams/quote/lbw4b6d

I would make a fuss and consider voting with your feet.

If they're not and you do get a static delegation of more than one subnet (remember all IPv6 subnets behind your firewall need to be /64) then you can assign LAN a static IP and pass that to all LAN computers using RADVD and SLAAC.

I've recently added https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/ipv6.html#ipv6-modes to make clear what IPv6 modes actually do. The truth is it really really depends on the ISP. Especially with PPPoE in the mix it can be confusing...
