Backup of OPNsense
«

Hello all,
I am building virtual OPNsense firewalls for a client and was wondering if there are any better tools out there to backup OPNsense, other than the Google method. While the Google method is ok for my personal firewall it does not fly for my client.
Thanks,
Steve

Keep backup sets of your configs.
Since you are doing this virtual, you should have the ability to perform snapshots at either the file system or vm guest hard drive. Keep an duplicate ready in case, take an offline backup of the virtual guest in case you need to stand up another virtual host, or to convert it to real hardware.

OPNsense supports other backup providers for the config.xml such as nextcloud. You just have to look at the plugins available.

It is also possible to backup boot environments as bare metal backup to storage devices via bemanager. I'm doing this manually at least before major updates, maybe this can also be done by cron...
