Updating Dynamic WAN IP?

Upon researching when setting up Suircata, I realize it is stated that you cannot use a DDNS to point to a dynamic WAN IP.
- Is there any future plans on making this so this is possible?
- If not, is there any other way of keeping it updated automatically?
- Also just curiously, what exactly would happen when the IP changes? Would Suricata just stop working until updated? Or would it cause bigger issues?

You have to assign also the interface (icg3 for me) on the opnsense setup.
