How to recover from manually uninstalling unbound?

My unbound randomly started failing to startup, logs said the system can't find unbound.pid, so I thought I would uninstall and reinstall unbound for a quick fix. I disabled unbound, enabled dnsmasq, ssh'd into the box, removed unbound using pkg then reinstalled it using pkg. Now I am unable to login through the web interface nor ssh. Any idea how to recover?
