I know. It shouldn't be possible. But one of my clients has a OPNSense 2 Quad Core HD, installed anf configured by a provider who went bankrupt half a year ago. And now no one knows the admin password of the device and we cannot make any changes to the settings.
We've tried several ways to connect to the serial port on front, but up until know we haven't succeeded in finding out the right pin/ communication settings for this port (speed, parity etc): we'ver tried 9600/8/N/1 up until 56K.
If we cannot access this device, the only option is to replace it by something new. But that would be a waste of equipment and money. So, if anyone has any idea on how to access that device so we can put in a new admin password without losing the configuration (because no one knows it and we cannot access it), it would be extremly useful,

Have you tried to access via SSH to see if it at least prompts you?

If you aren't sure of the password, try the defaults

u: root
p: opnsense

I think this was about an OPNsense appliance (hardware) running a legacy software.
