Mis-Classification of CPU
«
on:

Hello all,
I have built a brand new firewall on a Dell Optiplex with a i5-8500 CPU. OPNsense sees it as a i7-8700 with 12 cores, so there is something not right going on. Wanted to bring this to your attention.
Thanks,
Steve

Not necessary since I installed the i5 CPU myself. Even if it were an i7-8700 it does not have 12 cores!

I think you are missing the most important part, aside from me installing an i5 CPU. The 17 does NOT have 12 cores, it has 12 threads. It should not be listing 12 cores on OPNsense.

Have here
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/53422/intel-core-i3-2100-processor-3m-cache-3-10-ghz.html
showing up in dashboard as 4 cores.
Show pic of BIOS.

Is there a reason why AMD EPYC 3201 shows 8 cores, when it's 8 cores and 8 threads?

Yes, because it‘s correct.
