Hi,

I am a new retiree and not much knowledge here at all.

I have installed this wonderful software on a spare piece of old equipment and need to learn a lot before I start breaking things. My set-up is simple: Comcast cable goes into xl0, and my LAN is on en0 with default NAT ruleset. The LAN is simple: a couple of Windows units behind it, an access point, a DirectJet printserver with an old Brother printer.

What inspired me was a demo by a buddy who showed me what is going on on the outside. before that I happily used a Nighthawk router, and its log didn't show a fraction of what Opnsense does. Was that just difference in reporting? I have no clue.

So, my only questions at this stage: is this enough for a user like this one? Do I need to bother with some complicated add-ons like sensei or suricata and whatnot?

TIA
