HI Guys
I have had OS running for a few months with help from here and it has been solid no logs nothing.
I have not messed with it but i have started seeing logs popping up do i need to do anything to fix the issue?
Info Logs 100's like this over past few days
I only ask as my other friends with OPNsense do not see these logs
Main message x 55000 times see

Other Info

Debug message

Let me explain how i set it up and was advised it would be ok.
Avaiable Range 192.168.23.1 - 192.168.23.254
Range Set from 192.168.23.10 - 192.168.23.99 This is for OPNsense to allocate out
Within the Avaiable Range i have Static Leases 192.168.23.100 - 192.168.23.254
Within the Avaiable Range i have Static Leases 192.168.23.1 - 192.168.23.9 I have my OPNsense & Wifi Router Static
I only see 20 to 30 items being used within 10 to 99 but the logs are showing IP set in the static lease area !!

Are you remotely aware how DHCP works? What is exactly the problem if DHCP leases are issued?
The severity of these messages is "informational", not "critical" or "error", not even "warning".
And of course you get may of these messages - after half of the lease period is over, a device is supposed to request prolongation. If you did not change the default lease time, it is 2 hours, such that every device will request a lease every hour.
BTW: You can control what level of detail you see in the logs above the log, obviously it is set to at least "informational" now. Probably your friends reduced that to "warning" or "error".

HI
Thank you so should i set it to longer than 2 hours?
Also reduce the level of what i see?
I only asked as i get conflicting advice from other users who say they are experienced/
As you can see i have my range set to handout none static from 10 to 99
So i have available 100 to 254 to set as static if needed.
But some say i have dhcp set up incorrectly so i am torn between advice
Please could you point me to where i set time for prolongation if this needs adjusting in your opinion also where do i adjust the logs or do i just set to see errors?
Do the logs get purged or just keep growing?

For starters, it is a convention to have the lower addresses in a range for static reservations and upper ranges for dynamic - this stems from the fact that at least x.y.z.1 is usually static and happens to be the router's address for the most part. Other than that, it is a matter of taste.
The lease time can be dictated by how many IPs you hava available and how many you need - rarely a matter that anyone on a private LAN ever has to think about. So, it is a tradeoff between how static you want to have your dynamic IPs. But if you want to keep an eye on those adresses, you will make them static anyway. If there is no shortage of addresses and the pool of devices is not changing very much and you want to minimize your log size, you can set the default lease time to 86000s or even longer. I tend to set it to 7200s for guest networks.
Logs are being rotated daily and the retention time can be configured under System->Settings->Logging. This is all well documented:
https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/settingsmenu.html#logging
, just read a bit.
You can even put all logs on a RAM disk under System->Settings->Miscellaneous if you feel that can become a problem. On the other hand, if it ever did become a problem, so would placing logs into RAM.

Thank you for your help my original thought was it may be ok.
But was told by several people it was bad config of my dhcp!!
I have it setup like this due to previous setup on my old DD-wrt router and all my devices coded into Home Assistant yaml file.
I have Within the Avaiable Range i have Static Leases 192.168.23.1 - 192.168.23.9 I have my OPNsense & Wifi Router Static
But my leased devices have always been on the current IP's and this would have meant a lot of messing in HA
Not sure how to mark as solved but than you again

I think you can change the thread title and prefix it with [SOLVED].
