, which is on my todo list. other / easier / simple to install measures are also fine, as soon as I find the time I will try one out.

Looks like a promising SMF mod. It appears to support only SMF forum version 2.0, 2.0.7 and 2.0.10. When you do get the chance to implement this maybe it will work with version 2.0.11.
