OK, but that doesn't explain why the order that is set in the WebGUI config isn't maintained on boot.
#2
I was installing my Dell R230 with OPNsense 23.1 and got it updated, then restored a backup which messed up console output on boot.
Fixed it by ticking "Use the virtual terminal driver (vt)" and setting Primary Console to EFI.
Though I am unsure if the latter is needed when using vt?

Anyway, I set EFI Console to Primary and left the Secondary console set to Serial.

But booting the machine, the Loader shows option 5 (Cons) as Serial Primary.
dmesg shows this as well:
QuoteDual Console: Serial Primary, Video Secondary

That doesn't seem right?

Yes, it works. And after discussing it on IRC I have added a tuneable.

Hey,

Let's first make sure the template is moved to the config:

# grep ipmi_load /boot/loader.conf

Cheers,
Franco

This is odd. I initially named the file 20-ipmitool, but later I thought the module is named ipmi and the pkg is named ipmitool, so made more sense to rename is to 20-ipmi.
And now it works?

Quoteroot@OPNsense:~ # grep ipmi_load /boot/loader.conf
ipmi_load="YES"

root@OPNsense:~ # grep ipmi_load /boot/loader.conf
ipmi_load="YES"

Can't you just create a tunable in the UI?

Perhaps? I was told last year to do it this way.
But I can't refer to that atm.

I am trying to load the ipmi module, after installing the ipmitool package via SSH, but somehow it doesn't load.
Loading it manually works fine.

I created /usr/local/etc/rc.loader.d/20-ipmi and added ipmi_load="YES" to it.

Seems the file doesn't need any special permissions or user:group on it, so what could I be missing?

Just check it on my machine (HP T620 Plus) and Dashboard was showing the correct temps.
Do keep in mind the Dashboard only updates every so many seconds.

But a 13C difference isn't OK, unless you have a Intel CPU which can rapidly have a lower or higher temp?

Just updated to the test kernel.

Not sure if this matters:
Quoteroot@unicron:~ # uname -a
FreeBSD unicron.tweust.nl 13.1-RELEASE-p2 FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE-p2 stable/22.7-n250237-022b49bd54f SMP amd64
#9
OPNsense 22.1.8_1-amd64
FreeBSD 13.1-RELEASE
OpenSSL 1.1.1o 3 May 2022

Now we wait...

Running on a HP T620 Plus with a dual SFP port Intel i350 card.
AMD GX-420CA SOC with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (4 cores, 4 threads)

I don't have multiple consoles/desktops gaming at the same time as well, but what I found really helped, apart from proper port forwarding (if needed, because Nintendo switch doesn't) is Static Port for the IP address of the console/desktop under Firewall: NAT: Outbound.

So something like this:
Interface    Source    Source Port    Destination    Destination Port    NAT Address    NAT Port    Static Port    Description
WAN    PlayStation4     *    *    *    Interface address    *    YES    Game Static port

PlayStation4 is the name of the alias I use for my PS4 Pro.

Talk about immortal ghosts from the past, replying in a topic to which the last comment was made 4 years ago ;-)

SSH is not enabled by default (anymore).

General Discussion / Re: VLANs and OPNsense
April 30, 2020, 05:05:16 PM
That really depends on how many physical NICs you have.
If you have enough you could do with one VLAN per NIC, but if not you can trunk VLANs on one port on the switch.

*cough* nevermind. It was still having the patch version.
Plugins didn't even show it as installed. So I did and the logo shows and the font is good :D
#14
Finally switched to it. Somehow I still see "logo" in the top left.
Could that be because of the pre-final version I patched in earlier?

Also, not a fan of the used font type. It's like reading a document.
It's out of place.

Nice! Will check it out asap.
