Hi,

Lost access to current instance of opnsense, dont know which machine it is running from.

Tried installing a fresh copy of Oracle VM and installed opnsense on it, but it seems to be running a separate instance.

How do I connect the new installed opnsense virtual machine to the current instance? is there a trick where I can connect in such way?

Thanks,

Jack

@Mks

hey thanks for the reply,

the problem is i dont know how to access the console, the thing is, our IT guy quit and he didnt leave his software behind. now we just have bunch of windows machines, one windows server, and a router that seemingly has opnsense firewall loaded. truth is i dont even know where the opnsense is loaded to, just guessing it is installed on the main router.

Sorry for bringing this noob sh*t to you, with the covid lockdown, im just having difficult time having a professional come over and take a look. thought there might be something i can do myself...

I dont know if im making any sense, please let me know if i need to phrase the issue im trying to solve differently.

Virtual private networks / help needed!
April 16, 2021, 10:20:33 AM
Hello guys,

complete newbie here, we have a main router (HUAWEI) on 192.168.0.1, which when we try to access, promts opnsense username and password and standard root:opnsense does not work. The machine that was used to install and configure (with VM) opnsense was wiped clean and no longer has the software. I dont want to reset the router as im worried that might erase current network configs so im pretty much locked out of my router.

Is there any way we can revive access to 192.168.0.1 (opnsense) without loosing current network configurations? Please help to give instructions on how to regain console access to the current opnsense firewall.

Thanks in advance to all pros willing to help...
