So I did go ahead and install the Smart plugin and it came back with zero errors even after running some self tests. I am actually not sure what the file system is. I'll have to check.

Just to let everyone know I just updated to the newest version as it dropped onto my Opnsense. I am now on  23.7.2 and the DHCP service is starting without and issue and handing out leases. It must have been something with that prior release.

Thanks again for all of the help and let me know if you need any further information.

Oh yea sorry about that. I copied the wrong command from his post and repeated what I had done earlier. I decided to just perform a fresh reboot since the log had indications from the wrong command I ran.

This is the of of the entire day on the 22nd. As some proof I added some from the 21st as well.

I also am adding a screenshot of the debug option on the UI

Checking into the proper dhcpd.conf location in the log now. I don't see a config file in the location it mentioned for the startup. I am adding a screenshot for that as well.

Thanks you

Also what do you mean by why does the config look like? Do you want me to export a config and send it?

Thank you
-Assasen11

If you can post your config, that would be great.  I'm mainly trying to get an idea of your setup.  What are igb0 and igb1?  How many interfaces are you using?  Which ones are WAN and LAN?

It looks like your interfaces aren't configured correctly, but I'm not sure how a power outage would cause that unless your filesystem got corrupted.

Here is a copy of the config I am running.

Thanks again for your help.

EDIT: config.xml removed by admin -- better not post your full configuration. consider a text dump of the dhcpd XML section

Also what do you mean by why does the config look like? Do you want me to export a config and send it?

Thank you

I have tried this multiple times and in multiple different ways yes. Even on boot up it fails to start saying its running. If I try to stop the service it tells me that there is no service running.

I am having an issue after my router has been off for 3 days due to a power outage. The DHCP server will not start and it keeps giving an error in the log of the GUI saying that "There's already a DHCP service running". When I login to the shell and try to start it then it gives me the below information. It lists /usr/local/etc/dhcpd.conf as the config file its trying to run. When i check this file it shows only sample information in it that does not reflect what is in the GUI. There is a separate sample file as well with the same info.

I tried to fully update on the community section. I am currently running OPNsense 23.7.1_3.

Does anyone have any thoughts. Should I try to manually edit the .conf file to reflect what the GUI shows?

General Discussion / Re: NAT issues
March 28, 2019, 08:12:22 PM
At this moment I am trying to do a straight port 443 pass through directly to a host. So if traffic hits the specific static WAN address then it forwards port 443 to the LAN host.

A NAT rule is not enough to allow the traffic. It only rewrites the address field of the packets.

Ensure you have a corresponding firewall rule on the WAN interface with the internal host as the destination.

Bart...

I have been auto generating the rules. I went ahead and checked to confirm there was a corresponding rule for the WAN interface to allow the traffic.

General Discussion / NAT issues
March 27, 2019, 05:23:27 PM
I am losing my mind over an issue that I have no idea why it is happening. I am creating accurate NAT rules and the ports are just not opening at all. Am I missing something? I saw a post not too long ago related to outbound routes but I did not entirely understand what it was suggesting I needed to fix or change. I am running the newest version of Opnsense. Does anyone know how to fix this?

-Thanks ahead of time

Tutorials and FAQs / Indepth training
March 13, 2019, 08:14:33 PM
I am looking for courses and in depth training on some of the features of Opnsense I don't understand fully. Is there anything I could find online or pay for for this? I know I could pay 400 some dollars for four hours of support but I just want to understand the software a little better so that I can support my implementation of the software. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

General Discussion / Specific Address not accessible
October 01, 2018, 02:50:37 PM
I have a company where I cannot access a specific website from their internal network. I have succeeded in determining that the issue lies with the opnsense router. It seems that its stopping somewhere at the wan interface. The website is http://gamprecision.com/ hosted by godaddy at the ip address 107.180.9.68. As you can see on your own you should be able to access the website from your location as well. I cannot ping the address, i cannot tracert it, and the DNS does resolve internally. What I think might be happening is that the LAN is passing the requested traffic but its stopping the replies when it comes back. The website can be accessed from the comcast gateway when plugged into it directly. I have also tried pinging the address from the ping option in the router and that has not worked either. I have checked the firewall live log and saw the LAN passing the proper traffic out to the internet. I can provide any captures or anything needed in troubleshooting I am just running out of ideas on where to look for this. I appreciate any help provided ahead of time.

18.7 Legacy Series / Re: OpenVPN Client Export
September 14, 2018, 06:28:29 PM
Thank you so much for the reply with that link. I actually had figured out my first problem but I could not figure out why I could not communicate with internal Lan. The  link however answered my next question! My last issue was that i was not allowing the traffic through the WAN! Everything seems to be working now. I guess I couldn't find that exact guide you linked.

18.7 Legacy Series / OpenVPN Client Export
September 12, 2018, 03:41:44 PM
I know I may be missing something here I checked around the forums and did some google searches. I can not figure out how to export a client configuration. I believe I configured the server properly so I should be able to export a client? Unless I didn't configure it right and that why it isn't giving me an option to export? There should be a client install package option when I go to "client install packages" correct?
