So i was thinking of using my mini pc as a router and i currently run opnsense, but i wanted ap too. I was first thinking about openwrt but then because of openwrt difficulties in proxmox i thought what about use a mini pcie card in opnsense. Is this possibile with any wifi 6 one and if yes which should i get? At the openwrt forum they told me the aw7916 npd from asia rf but it costs a lost. By the way please help me set up the wireless interface.

So i have a mini pc and i am using it for firewalling. I have proxmox ve and run opnsense and i was thinking to add a wlan device. So shall i buy a wifi 6 router or use my mini pcs whole power and add a wifi 6 card? I also will have to buy a voip device which costs but lets forget about cost. Whats more efficient secure and customizable?

Hello i have a mini network appliance running proxmox and inside it opnsense as a vm. My question is shall i pcie passthriugh and if yes is it possible to passthriugh only one port and how?

I see a lot of people saying using firewalls in vms is dangerous and could eventually lead to a cascading error. I want the firewall for home use. Should i use opnsense barebone or proxmox in my situation? I already have a machine running proxmox and i dont want to buy another one.

So i run opnsense at proxmox and at the proxmox installation it asks me for a gateway. But my gateway is opnsense that runs in proxmox . Also my mini pc (server) has four ethernet ports and one of them is for accessing proxmox and the two others are lan and wan of opnsense . Does it matter if the proxmox gateway ip matches the lan ip of opnsense as they are at different ports or does it matter because they are on the same switch? Also second question. Can i use a port like opnsense lan for another vm to advertise it through the same port? Like truenas?

Hello certified noobie here. What rules do yall use on opnsense ids ips? I also use nat so should i have lan selected as an interface except for wan too?

Lately, ive been trying to setup a opnsense but i can not. My isp uses pppoe i have the (password and passname) and he uses vlan tagging too. I am currently having a lot of trouble trying to set it up because of the tagging. Can someone help? tag 401 and i have only two ports available wan and lan

I use hyper v windows 10 pro without license opnsense and I've configured everything. Let's note that I'm a newbie and that I just started learning. So I very set my speedport plus to bridge mode and I'm trying to connect it to my opnsense vm. How is that possible ?

Newbie here. While setting up opnsense it couldn't detect the Wan port although I have two ports at my pc. One is a tp link t3468 v4 and the other is realtek gbe family controller. I've read everywhere that realtek drivers such so should I download other drivers for opnsense to recognize the ethernet adapter?
