General Discussion / [RESOLVED] VGA not working
July 18, 2022, 02:27:38 AM
Due to a failed update I decided to reinstall OPNSense and grabbed the VGA image but I am not getting the same console as I once had, which allowed me to jump into the shell, is there something more I need to configure? I had made changes in Settings->Admin->Primary Console - I selected VGA and EFI and I do not get the menu I am expecting.

Any suggestions?

21.7 Legacy Series / Need to change vga boot resolution
November 20, 2021, 05:16:38 PM
Original post: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=22045.msg104737#msg104737

Need to know how to change the 1600x1200 settings you get on bootup? I have attempted to use tuneables vbe_max_resolution 1080p and screen.textmode 0 but still seems to be using 1600x1200

I have a KVM hooked to a Qotom-Q190G4N and its a garbarled display, is there some way to force it to 800x600 or something lower? Right now its forcing a 1600x1200 display.

I tried this: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=12065.0

It did not work, so per the verbiage in that same file I added the info into the .local and it was even worse.

Running: OPNsense 20.7.8_4-amd64

General Discussion / Multi-Wan IPv4 setup
May 12, 2020, 05:35:17 AM
I saw someone posting this on IRC so I followed it but its not working the way I expected it to. https://www.thomas-krenn.com/de/wiki/OPNsense_Multi_WAN#2_WAN_Verbindungen_ohne_IPv6, I just translated this to English.

My expectation was that if the main gateway was down to use the alt, then when the main one came back it would switch back however, something happened today and now all traffic is going through the alt and I don't see it switching back. Not sure if I need to do anything manually or not.

Anyone have another reference I can use that you found successful?

General Discussion / (Solved) DHCPD issue
May 11, 2020, 05:01:26 AM
I just now noticed this, I am making new VM's and the same exact IP is being offered to different mac addresses, I even turned on the update-conflict-detection true; option. How is this not working? This is a faily new install, few weeks old.

Here is my conf file:
option domain-name "localdomain";
option ldap-server code 95 = text;
option arch code 93 = unsigned integer 16; # RFC4578
option pac-webui code 252 = text;

default-lease-time 7200;
max-lease-time 86400;
log-facility local7;
one-lease-per-client true;
deny duplicates;
ping-check true;
update-conflict-detection false;
authoritative;

subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
  pool {
    option domain-name-servers 192.168.1.252;
    range 192.168.1.70 192.168.1.245;
  }

  option routers 192.168.1.1;
  option domain-name-servers 192.168.1.252;
  default-lease-time 7200;

}

Thought it was a router issue, after some lengthy troubleshooting turns out its not the router.

How I found it was not the router - Moved the DHCP server to something else and it did the exact same thing.

I just got done following this guide: https://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/ar ... viscosity/

But I cant seem to get to all of my LAN ip's, for instance:

192.168.1.2 Alt netgear wifi router
192.168.1.4 pfsense box (Backup)
192.168.1.254 Managed switch

route print shows me the following:
Network Destination Netmask Gateway Interface Metric
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.8.5 10.0.8.6 50

Anyone have any ideas how this can be resolved?

Is there some way to change this to fahrenheit, is there some official request I need to submit if not?

LAN - igb0
WAN2 - ibg2
WAN1 - igb3

Hooking up the cable to WAN2, I am unable to get a DHCP IP, it remains 0.0.0.0 even if i reboot the modem and router
Hooking up the same cable to WAN1 I get the dhcp assignment

I looked at both wan assignments and there isnt really much to mess up, why does igb3 get the IP but igb2 does not?

Update: This is for anyone else that comes across this same issue, I have also updated the subject line for better searches.
WAN2 is Comcast, not only do they need and provision the CMAC from the cable modem but they also provision the first MAC Address that connects, so unles you get someone that is savvy at Comcast, you will need that mac addy for all time and spoof it on any interface you need to move this to.
