Take it step by step.
1. What did you try to do? Install OPNsense? Did you actually manage to fully install OPNsense? Does the web interface load?
2. What does "the opnsense loads fine" mean?
3. Are you trying to access the console? Or are you trying to connect using ssh?

Thanks for your reply:
I used usb "OPNsense-18.1-OpenSSL-serial-i386"
The pc os 32 bit only. Asus EEE
It ran all the way up to the welcome section.
But no "login:"
I can't use the root or installer user to install to hd or anything.

Oh, sorry.
You're using the wrong image.
You should use the
VGA
image and write it to your flash drive using rufus (
https://rufus.akeo.ie/
) for example (if your are using Windows):
OPNsense-18.1-OpenSSL-
vga
-i386.img.bz2 (SHA256) : c43712c87a3381102d33f2606fc666fdffde54d81a0f0b8c70cf334eddd4047c

Yes, verify the hash of the archive first, unzip, select DD image in rufus and select the extracted .img file.

The hash is correct. VGA just keeps rebooting machine no menu or process.

Did you first (before installing the VGA image) erase everything on the target HDD? You should have an unformatted HDD before installation. Better do this with something else than the OPNsense installer, like a live linux/windowspe cd.

I have a wiped hd. The problem is the work "Login: " is missing for me to do anything.
As in the photo earlier.

Can you access the web interface from one of your LAN clients? Or ssh?

Strange, is this different when you boot FreeBSD 11.1 image? We're using the same VGA settings I would hope.
Cheers,

I have now tried all versions of opnsense on two totally differant pc's.
Non work fully and some just have what looks like static on the screen.
This is the same for both opnsense and pfsense.
It does not seen to be a usb or dvd problem as i have used both. DVD, USB, VGA, SERIAL, OPNSENSE AND PFSENSE but Untangle works just fine.
I dont want to use Untangle but at this stage i dono what to do.
Serial works but no login prompt.
vga just keeps rebooting machine and no menu it just doesnt get that far.
dvd starts ok then something with possable gfx driver maybe and i get whats in this photo.
