Hi

I have just changed FTTP provider and entered new username and password.  Connection is working.  I have ordered static IP.

myip.dk reports the static IP as expected (84.x.x.x)
OPNsense dashboard shows WAN gateway address as (212.x.x.x)

With the old ISP both were the same.  I cannot connect to my VPN now so I suspect something is wrong.

Any ideas please?

The gateway address is not your IP address but the one of the gateway on the other end of the WAN link. Your address is shown e.g. in the Interfaces widget.

Thanks.  It's strange because with the previous ISP the IP address shown on the dashboard gateway widget was the same as my actual static IP.  With the second ISP it is not.

The service is now working (incoming traffic too) so perhaps it just needed to settle.  But I would be interested to know the reason for the difference between the two?

WAN IP and gateway IP must differ at all, otherwise you would not be able to access anything on the internet.

The site displays the public IP, which you're using to access it. So it should be the same as the WAN IP OPNsense displays on the dashboard, but not the gateway.
