Linux and Wireguard (NetworkManager) - HowTo?

Hi
I have managed to setup Wireguard and it works fine with Android devices (scan QR, save, apply works).

However, when I try to setup a Wireguard Connection with Linux (NetworkManager) I can't get it to work.

I entered everything in the Peer table, chose the appropriate DNS (local) and IP (/32) in the IP4, "connect" and then

- The status page under Networkmanager says "not connected"
- There does not seem to be any route in the wg2 interface
- A ping to an internal address shows "sendmsg: a necessary key is missing"

OpenVPN works fine and from Android, too.

What am I missing to configure under Linux?

Thanks.

Are you sure the OPNsense forum is the ideal place to ask that question? I for one have never setup Wireguard using NetworkManager, only using wg-quick.

Best to ask in either the forum of the Linux distribution you are using or NetworkManager forum.

I think in order to help you we need more information like :
- Which distro ?
- Configuring from a DE or via nmtui/nmcli ?
- Did you read this : https://networkmanager.dev/docs/vpn/
QuoteNetworkManager 1.16.0+ supports WireGuard natively and requires no plugin
??

And anything else you can tell us and might be related to the issue :)

Surely SOMEONE can help him here ?!

In the end it's a VPN Client issue and there's even a dedicated sub-forum for VPN stuff :)
Weird guy who likes everything Linux and *BSD on PC/Laptop/Tablet/Mobile and funny little ARM based boards :)
