[SOLVED] Upgrade to 26.1.11 Stuck at starting web gui

Hi,
during the update the kernel will not be installed as the upgrade is stuck with the message
Starting web GUI...done.

Any ideas where to look at?

I think the problem is that the kernel is downloading but you can't see the progress.

It happened to me and I waited until it started to download the base package and it didn't either showed the download progress until it finished and the the update finished normally with the reboot

Same issue, stuck on "Starting web GUI...done."

Update: Waiting about 15-20 minutes and it finally completed.

Were you on 26.1.8/.9? If yes it could be the bug that was introduced in .8 and fixed in .10 that buffered the update log output.

Cheers,
Franco

No I was at 26.10.
But all Solved now, I tried it again from the console and it worked like a charm.'
thank you all for your help and the inputs

hello,

have this behaviour too, but after 10 minutes there comes "Fetching base-26.1.11-amd64.txz: .....................failed, signature invalid
***DONE***

mirror ist set to "OPNsense (https, Amsterdam, NL)"

greetings

@franco, I was at 26.1.10 and noted this behavior. The first part of the update were fine and I could see all the packages update progress.
When it reached the point to update kernel and base packages it stuck a while until it showed kernel download complete, and then stuck again until base download complete.
After that, the update continued as normal, with kernel and base installation and reboot.

It was the kernel and base download that I couldn't see the progress, so depending on the download speed one could think that the update stopped.

Maybe the main mirror was particularly slow yesterday on release day as people were already updating? Need to keep this under observation in the coming days.

Cheers,
Franco

I didn't have any errors, but it looked to me like the output of the fetch commands was line buffered, and therefore didn't appear until each fetch completed. I upgraded from the console menu. The web GUI was functional and I could see from the traffic graphs that a download was taking place.

Starting web GUI...done.

I faced the same issue, which was solved as soon as I switched to another mirror. I was on DEFAULT, when updates failed (neverending as well as signature invalid).

I'm having the same problem:
With the latest update from version 26.1.10 to 26.1.11, I'm having trouble installing base-26.1.11-amd64.txz. I suspect this isn't just happening to me, but to everyone else as well.

Maybe I'm getting a little too paranoid, but in this era of AI supply chain attacks and widespread discoveries of vulnerabilities in FreeBSD, I probably can't be too careful.

Doesn't look like the same problem? In your case, I'd guess a full filesystem, perhaps?
