Forcing regular SCP backups?

Hello all,

I couldn't find a solution to this issue, so I am hoping to find some pointers/ideas here.

I have set up automatic backup via SCP, which works well.
The backup destination is monitored for the age of the most recent backup file.

Now, even though I have configured daily backups, they are not created if the configuration remains unchanged.
So after 7 days, the monitoring alerts me that backups are out of date.

While it makes sense to (by default) not do a backup if the config hasn't changed, I now have no way of differentiating between:
- the config was not changed
- the backup process is somehow broken

Having a checkbox like "Force backup if configuration is unchanged" would be really helpful.
Or are there any other solutions to this?

Thanks!
