Hello. I have a new Deciso DEC677 appliance that I just pulled out of the box. I connected to the web UI successfully and started upgrading the software.

After several upgrade cycles (I want to say I started at 24.7) I had gotten up to 25.10 (not yet 25.10.1_2) when the upgrade failed mid-upgrade with a red error message stating the upgrade failed (sorry, I didn't get a screenshot). The web UI stopped responding. I re-installed OPNsense from scratch using the Serial image.

UPDATE 1/8/25 - For anyone else that runs into this, the 25.7 to 25.10.1_2 update seemed to fail again at the same place after re-install. I let the system sit for about 15 minutes and it eventually auto-rebooted into 25.10.1_2.

I'm very appreciative for any thoughts or nudges in the right direction. Cheers.

1. Did you get the serial installer, not the VGA one?
2. Check the BIOS/Coreboot settings of the legacy UART: https://docs.opnsense.org/hardware/serial_connectivity.html

Ahh, yes, I was using the VGA installer. Switching to the serial installer resolved the re-install issue I had. Thank you very much!
