q-feeds feedback

Hi there,

I tested the free plugin and it works according to plan, thanks!

A few items though:
- I guess that with the Community - Self-Provisioned licensing scheme, the provided threat feeds include OSINT only. Are you intending to list what is included within your OSINT package? I.E: all the Q-Feeds triggering threats here were part of my next in line ingress policy object which is the IPSUM_L1 threat intelligence feed.

- I may think that the plugin does not release/give control back to OPNsense once the inactive administrative session timeout has been reached. One may still click on the three Q-Feeds menus. Although, while nothing refreshes within the Q-Feeds menus, once you click anywhere else within the GUI, you're routed to the usual OPNsense login page, which is the normal behavior under these circumstances.

- Why the "Security" new menuitem? why not simply within the "Services > Q-Feeds Connect" menu directly? Perhaps there are other unknown to me plugins that uses the "Security" menuitem although if you're the only one, I don't see the point TBH.

Let me know,
Thanks

The second point is normal and happens everywhere because there is no forced non-interactive redirect to the login page in general once the session timeout has been reached.

i would agree on 3, the new top level menu item is a bit much. annoyed that zenarmor does it, annoyed that qfeeds does it. just put your service/plugin in the services menu imo

Hi Mokaz and Dirtyfreebooter,

Glad everything works as expected! And thanks a lot for your feedback, really appreciated. Please find our answers below.

1.
Your guess is correct, the Community edition only provides open-source intelligence. Our threat lookup (Plus and Premium licenses) feature gives more insight into where items come from. We're not planning to make this available for the Community edition.

2.
As Cedrik already mentioned. :)

3.
We went with this approach because several users asked for a specific category during our beta testing. I guess everyone has their own preferences. :) Our personal view is that it's clearer to keep a distinction between Security and Services, otherwise the Services menu becomes cluttered with too many different functions. That said, I do agree that adding other security related services (including Zenarmor) to the menu would help keep things clean and consistent. I'll add it to our next meeting agenda to have a look at it.

Thanks again!

Kind regards,

David
