Hello everyone,

I am experiencing an issue with PPPoE DSL on my Protecli VP3210 (Intel I226-V Rev4, Coreboot, OPNsense 25.7.3_7).
The connection is stable right after startup but drops after some minutes/hours. The logs show:

LCP: no reply to 1/2/3/4/5 echo request(s)
Link: DOWN event
can't connect "[e]:" -> "mpd38170-0" No such file or directory

What I have tested so far:

- Exact same WAN configuration as on my V1210 → PPPoE works perfectly there, no drops
- Swapped ports (WAN/LAN) → no difference
- Set the MAC address to match the V1210 → no difference
- Added tunables → no difference
- Restarted modem → no difference
- Fresh OPNsense installation, configured everything manually (no backup restored) → no difference

Observations:

- LAN connections on the same ports are stable
- SSD or memory can be ruled out, the problem only occurs with PPPoE
- Disconnects only happen after some minutes/hours, when mpd starts sending LCP echo requests
- After a reboot it works again for a while

My V1210 has the same Intel I226-V NICs and runs absolutely stable with the identical PPPoE setup

Question:

- Can anyone confirm if this is a known issue with Intel I226-V Rev4 and PPPoE on FreeBSD/OPNsense?
- Are there any workarounds or specific settings that could help?
- Since the V1210 works flawlessly with the same NICs and configuration, I strongly suspect a timing/driver-related problem on the VP3210.

Thanks a lot for any help!
