DNS Forwarder Host Overrides not working

Hi all,

I am currently testing some firewall distros (again) and I really like the product you created here. I have been using pfSense in some installations already and I am glad someone put up to give it a "little" makeover.

Aside from that, I have an issue with the host overrides using the DNS Forwarder. As soon as I add an entry in the host overrides section, DNS Forwarder disables itself and if I start it again, the overrides are not working.

I tried to pinpoint the issue via some logs, but haven't been able to find any clue what goes wrong so far.

Can someone reproduce the issue or got it working or can give me a hint on where to look for some error messages?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

There seems to be a small issue with saving the page, which by accident switches of the forwarder when you try to restart it. This is probably an issue with the form fields.

The host overrides themselves seem to be connected to the "DHCP Registration" feature, when you enable that the hosts should be loaded as well.

Cheers,

Ad

Hi Ad

Thanks for your response. I still believe it's not only a bug which turns the forwarder off, as I tried what you suggested to no avail, still not resolving those entries.

I checked two workarounds: Putting the entries directly in /etc/hosts or using the DNS resolver with host overrides instead of the forwarder. Both appear to work.

I also believe the DHCP registration and host overrides should not be related, as in my view they are different features.

Cheers
