Thanks!
Will DEC800, DEC3800 & DEC4000 series also get an update soon?
Last update was mid-2024...

Current bios of dec3860 (with EPYC Embedded 3101) only seems to suport C2 as highest C-state as per sysctl.
Would like to have C3 enabled if possible to fursther lower power consumption.
Can this be enabled by an updated bios?

i guess this means my old reliable dec670 1gb is end of life if its no longer receiving bios updates?

Ouch! That's bad if the unit is in a remote data centre.

Fairly sure it will, but it all depends on teh manufacturer of the BIOS afaik.

I would try it first, and then you might be able to have a tunable for it. I remember enabling C3 on APU boards without entering the BIOS.

That's a false assumption imo. I would assume EoL products are labeled as such.

True, but you'd need remote hands anyway to plug in the USB stick...don't think you can present the needed file structure over KVM with a USB cable plugged in instead to be used when booting the appliance and choosing boot medium in EFI boot manager.

Would NanoKVM or JetKVM work for something like this? Of course your internet would fail during the reboot unless you had some kind of backup or are running HA. Might be worth having one of these on a cellular backup.

Yes, I have a NanoKVM Lite (the smallest one) that I'm fighting with, it needs community development to really make it work. Mine won't even get out to the internet to do the updates. Haven't had time to beat on it lately, and one of those things is to log the traffic on the port to make sure it isn't doing anything I don't want it to do. Neat device, not ready for real work though.

The devices have only serial consoles so fundamentally it's even easier than with a KVM. But ... if they really power down there is no way to power up again but using the physical switch on the 2700 and unplug-count-to-three-replug on the 700 series.

I've installed this update and after power cycling the machine it no longer displays anything to serial console nor do the status LEDs on the network ports power on... this seems to have bricked my dec 2750.

Has anyone here tried doing a recovery... or is such a thing even possible? I've managed to get up and running after cobbling a machine out of spare parts around the house and am planning to get a newer 2755 as a replacement; but it would be disappointing to have this router just be a paperweight (and it only happened for this particular update: all other revisions installed fine with the same behavior).

That's...odd. Does the blue led light up at all ? Power brick and wall connections are ok ?

Unsure if your unit is under warranty still, but I would try contacting Deciso for this.

Yup, the blue light turns on and the fans still spin, but no console signals or port lights.

I'm unfortunately almost three years into ownership so warranty probably won't apply, but I'll try contacting them.

It's a long stretch but I would certainly try a BIOS reset - by way of replacing the battery inside.

Check with Deciso first just to be on the safe side.

Thank you for the suggestion. I sent an email to Deciso and despite being out of warranty, they actually offered to replace the board!
They've shipped it out so fingers crossed I can get things up and running again.
