Date and time reset to years in the past after power outage

I had a power outage over night and experienced some network connectivity issues including that the announcements section on the dashboard wouldn't load. I finally thought to check the system time and noticed it was set to September 2021.

I tried restarting the network time service but that didn't help.

I could not find any way to set the system time in the UI but luckily I had SSH set up. I was able to connect via SSH, change to the root user, and then set the date and time using the date command and then everything started to work again.

Seems strange to not have a place to update the system time in the UI.

I'm running on Protectli hardware. I've had several power outages with this hardware but not had this issue before. Is this a sign of an RTC hardware failure or maybe I need to replace the RTC battery?

Yes! :-)

Also think about setting up NTP across your network which in itself is an important security measure against replay attacks and to correlate security events in various logs.
