Need help,how to Create a Transparent Bridge

I through pppoe dial-up connection to the internet. I need a dedicated flow control router to control network traffic. I hope opnsense only firewall function, but not for network address translation operations. Other things to the flow control router to do. How to set up? Any help are appreciated.

Has anyone been successful in getting a transparent firewall setup on 17.1 beta using the instructions here: https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/transparent_bridge.html? Or any other instructions?

I tried a few months ago using 16.x and was unsuccessful using em NICs.
