Can't ping or remote connect to another pc on the network wireless

Here is the problem I am facing:

I can't connect to my game server nor the OPNsense GUI on wifi but I can when I am plugged into the switch in my rack using my laptop

My setup is pretty much default, no vlans etc. I have a few port forward rules for my game server and they work fine.

What am I missing and or forgetting to turn on in order for this to be an option? Eventually I would like to make a domain to be able to connect to my network from outside but that's another day.

Any help or a point in the right direction would be awesome. Thanks

Which device is providing the wireless network? Your OPNsense host? Or is there a wireless AP connected to your LAN? Or did you even connect your OPNsense to the LAN of an ISP or similar consumer router that provides "Internet" over Ethernet and WiFi all the same?

Please describe your network in as much detail as you can manage, possibly including a small diagram.

I have my ATT fiber modem before my OPNsense router. The IP address is being passed to the router and the modems firewall completely turned off. I am using the modem as my wireless AP at this point until very soon when I get unifi APs for the house.

Outside of that I have a 24 port poe unify switch and that is it

Not sure what's surprising there? Devices on WAN cannot access your LANs. That's the whole purpose of the firewall in place, isn't it?

That is not going to work. Wireless needs to be behind your OPNsense connected to the LAN interface, not the WAN.

Wait until you get your dedicated APs and take a new start then.

EDIT: @doktornotor please consider that there might be people who simply do not know.

That makes complete sense. I was unaware that my wifi was now too a WAN connection even in the same household

Thank you guys. I don't mind being told I am completely wrong because it allows me to learn for the next time.

Here is my next question then... Since the IP is passed to OPNsense and now my wifi is WAN,  how would I go about finding that IP address? And could you port forward to that specific IP to allow the remote connection?

when I do ip addr in debian, I have a 192. IP address that shows up from the wifi, which is where the question stems from

Uhm, I don't think it's going to work at all... Not without manual outbound NAT from your LAN behind OPNsense to the WiFi "WAN" at least, plus some static route on the modem.

Really, get those APs and put them behind OPNsense. This whole WiFi on WAN concept is severely broken.

Yea I get it. It is the situation currently in my house because my old router was 8ish years old and was severely cutting my internet speeds in half in my LAN so I switched to an OPNsense router and didn't have any APs ready for the switch.

I'm happy once they are behind the OPNsense I shouldn't have this problem

Thanks for the assistance
