I set up an opnsense router yesterday, got WiFi working but it breaks after a while. Anyone know what might be going on? Is this a common issue for which there is an easy fix. I need stability.
P.s. is there an official way to set up the WiFi, I've just been following pfsense information.. But yeah now no WiFi clients can connect even though was working the way it should most of the day. Im wondering if WiFi is buggy with opnsense? Anyone manage to get a good and stable access point with it?
Thanks

Hi,
WiFi and Opnsense is a Bit of PITA.
All depends on the wifi hardware and the drivers. I use 2 usb wifi sticks on my opnsense since some weeks now. One as Internal AP and one for the wifi guests. They only work with 54 MBit Speed. Both sticks use a ralink chipset. But it takes many tries to find ralink based wifi sticks that working rock solid in AP Mode!!
I've tested some ralink devices that don't work as an AP under OPNSense. Some seems to work but the connection are very bad and/or disconnect very often!
The same experience i had with Atheros-based mPCI wifi cards. Some cards will work fine as AP, some don't!
The best solution to get an good wifi is to use an dedicated AP!
