APC UPS help wanted. NUT server doesnt work.
« on: April 13, 2024, 01:58:57 pm »
Hi!
I'm a new user of Opnsense.

First of all.
I have a Aliexpress "Topton" n305 machine running the latest Opnsense (24.1.5_3)
I also have a APC Back-UPS 750 VA UPS. (BX750MI-GR)

I connected my APC UPS to my linux desktop and installed NUT on that machine. Just to get som basic info.
Typed: sudo nut-scanner -U
And got the following result:

Scanning USB bus.
[nutdev1]
   driver = "usbhid-ups"
   port = "auto"
   vendorid = "051D"
   productid = "0002"
   product = "Back-UPS BX750MI"
   serial = "xxxxxxxxxxxx"
   vendor = "American Power Conversion"
   bus = "001"

I then installed os-nut plugin and connected UPS to Opnsense.
I tried several drivers but Diagnostics was allways blank.
Tried rebooting to no avail.

What I want to achieve is to run Opnsense and a Switch with my UPS in a power loss, and then safely power down when the battery is getting low..

I also noticed that there is a plugin called os-apcupsd. Would that be a better solution?

Anybody have an idea what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks
