apologies if this is covered in the documentation but i couldn't find it - i have a DEC2770 with 8GB of RAM, can I upgrade this? the board diagram looks like a standard DIMM, are there any restrictions on the type or capacity?

TIA!

I think for greater adoption of Deciso hardware,  there should be a support section to get manuals,  BIOS updates, specifications, etc. Comparing to Protecli's website, Deciso is harder to find out about their hardware.

Agreed! I don't expect free hardware support or anything, but a forum section or repository for manuals, user contributions, etc. would be welcome.

I ordered some RAM that should be compatible and will report back here.

Oh, I absolutely expect hardware support for any hardware I buy. Seriously these "warranty void if broken" seals on the appliances are a major point against!

Specifically the rack appliances do deliver enterprise class performance - at enterprise class prices, no problem with that - but the customer should get a hardware maintenance manual and be able to upgrade storage and memory with standard parts.

Despite the current shortcomings I am personally responsible for at least a dozen if not more of Deciso appliance units sold and I will continue to endorse them. Still I call for hardware maintenance in the hand of the customer.

Kind regards,
Patrick

This came up in a google search...

I agree, would be nice to have manuals, etc.

Also in the USA, the FTC has decided that those warranty void stickers are not legal. If you change the RAM, and the device breaks, as long as the ram did not cause the failure, warranty must still be honored.

I also think they should offer RAM upgrades in the purchasing menus. For the 27xx 8, 16, and 32 seem like they might be good values, at least go up to 16.
