Cloudgenix ION 2000/3000

I was able to get OPNsense running on some Cloudgenix hardware by flashing the nano image to the SATA SSD inside the device (installers won't work and the BIOS is locked down)
The Cloudgenix ION 2000 seems to be a customized Lanner FW-7525 and the ION 3000 a Lanner FW-7573.
These have some interesting LAN Bypass hardware in them that is accessed over I2C. I am able to program / use the hardware on a Linux OS, but I have been unable to get OPNsense to access the I2C buses, no iic devices populate on the system. If anyone has any ideas let me know! Would like to look into writing a plugin for OPNsense to use this hardware.
On my ION 3000 the block of 8 ports defaulted to bypass mode, if you disconnect the ssd, you can boot BIOS? MBR? boot live USBs (Kali linux works well) and compile / run the Lanner utilities to reset / save to nvram the hardware to not be in bypass mode. You have to edit the make files to since they are written only up to Kernel 3.x replace the 3 with 5 and set for local access (no need for the driver) and they compiled fine though.
