Squid Proxy pfSense depreciation

Hello fellow OpenSense community members,
Can you please help?
I am a long time PfSense user.
https://forum.netgate.com/user/jonathanlee
I utilize the Squid package with HTTPS device certificates set to custom with SSL interception enabled and Snort with full AppID custom text rules that match the stubs. I also have a snort subscription.
I recently learned that Netgate is going to stop allowing users access to those packages. Thus I can't update the box past 23.05.01 now.
I use Squid with caching / dynamic cache acceleration, and ClamAV. They have no plans to have a replacement for proxy use. I also like to play around with Squid's StoreID sometimes (can only get storeID to halfway work). I am a computer science student with an AA in cyber security.
My question is like PfSense if I purchase an official OpenSense firewall like my SG2100MAX (ARM) do I also need software license? With pfSense the Plus version was included in hardware purchase. Does OpenSense do this also have a different version?
Thanks again, I like to purchase official hardware, I just want to understand the difference with licences for home users.

Here is a good thread about the Version differences:

Here is also a thread that explains the state of the squid proxy on OPNsense:
