I just installed the Postfix plugin again (new router) and noticed this message at the end of the install.

Does this mean the plugin is going to be abandoned in the near future?

QuoteThis port is deprecated; you may wish to reconsider installing it:

It is only here until FreeBSD 11 is EoL (Postfix >= 3.6 requires OpenSSL >= 1.1.x).

It is scheduled to be removed on or after 2021-09-30.

Nothing to do.

Note I am on the latest release of Opnsense

FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p3
OpenSSL 1.1.1w 11 Sep 2023

Maintainer needs to update it ;)

Wondering about these upstream post-install messages - perhaps they'd be better off redirected to /dev/null - also the Wireguard one does more harm than good. Plus the instructions about enabling etc. are mostly not applicable for OPNsense anyway.

Perhaps we should display this message in bold and red?  ;)

Well, not convinced it'd help. Whatever, with openssl 1.1.1 now in place, is there any issue with switching the plugin to the mail/postfix port (currently the 3.8 branch), instead of using postfix35?

I think it was formerly blocked by LibreSSL use but that's also no longer the case. So we want mail/postfix? I will add the port and switch the development plugin dependency then for 23.7.8.

PS: The OpenSSL version message is irrelevant here.

Well I assume mail/postfix is the one to choose for now. There's also mail/postfix-current but I'd say there's no need for experimental stuff here.  ;D

Thank you for your replies.

Much appreciated.
