New Install - Port Forwarding issue
«

I am new to OPNSense and have just completed my first install.
I'm running Home Assistant on a LAN machine, and the Home Assistant apps on my phone. I have a port forwarding entry that forwards the HA port (8123) from the external WAN address to the internal LAN address of the HA machine.
This works as it should when I'm accessing the address externally, however if I try and access the external address from the LAN then it does not work. This same setup worked previously on my consumer-brand router.
This is necessary because the Home Assistant app config only allows for a single address, and needs to work both inside and outside the LAN.
I assume there's some firewall rule or something that prevents LAN users from accessing the external WAN interface with port redirection, or something?
Any suggestions for possible solutions would be appreciated.

Hello,
Edit the port forward rule so that "WAN, LAN" is selected.
Because home assistent is in the same network as your LAN clients you need an Outbound NAT rule on the interface LAN too.
Essentially follow this Method:
https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/nat_reflection.html#method-1-creating-manual-port-forward-nat-dnat-manual-outbound-nat-snat-and-automatic-firewall-rules
