No internet means no access to WebGUI.

I am having a problem. I am new to OPNsense so maybe I am missing something. When I have an internet connection everything works perfectly the WebGUI is accessible and the world is happy but if the internet goes down for any reason I lose all access to the router. The computers can all talk and access each other so the router is routing but I can't access the router through SSH or WebGUI and I have no idea why. The second the internet comes back I once again have access to the router, this is rather annoying because if the internet drops because of a problem on the router I would have no way to fix it since it is a headless setup. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Do you access OPNsense using a domain name or the IP address?

Both and neither work when internet is down.

Ok, some more questions:

Which is your network configuration on LAN, OPNsense's IP, your client's IP?

Can you still pint OPNSense when "Internet is down"? BTW: What does that mean, PPPoE collapses or link goes offline?

Thanks

It's just a basic DHCP on the LAN, the IP for OPNsense is 172.16.0.1 the client is 172.16.0.10. What i mean is if the internet is not accessible if it goes down, ethernet is unplugged, modem turned off, anything I can no longer access the webGUI, SSH, or even ping the OPNsense router but LAN access to other computers still works. Once the internet is back and working access ot the router returns. This happens ragrdless of how I try to access it, either by IP or domain, which works just fine when I have internet access.

Thx, some more questions:
You use the LAN IP of OPNSense to connect to it. Could you run a traceroute to OPNsense once you're online and once you're offline?

Furthermore, what kind of IP address do you get on WAN, a private or a public one? And last but not least, what about IPv6, is it on and if yes how is it configured?

No IPv6 at all just IPv4 on my connection, WAN IP is a public IP in the 32.220.0.0 area and tracert with internet access (both of the domain name and IP) is no hops direct to the router. Can't disconnect it right now because everyone is home and if I take their internet there will be hell to pay but I can do it a bit later and edit post.

So, it seems that after I posted this question everything started working... Before when the internet was down I could not access the router and now after unplugging the modem to drop the internet I was able to access it. I changed nothing and no updates were done in between yet it works, I have no idea what happened.
