Intel i225-LM support?

Hi,

still with the latest updates I am running into daily disconnects with my Realtek based setup (using VLANs and zenarmor), which need a power cycle to reconnect.

I want to get rid of the Realtek NICs now and am about to pull the trigger on a similar system, but with Intel NICs. The only threads I find about the i225-LM are from last year and older, can I assume these NICs are running flawless now?

It's a shame, I thought I finally found a suitable Barebone / MiniPC with something more powerful than a Celeron processor and good NICs (ASRock ‎NUC Box-1220P).

I run the quad core Pentium Silver 16GB version with Proxmox which supports FreeBSD guests with vNICs, but I can't test 2.5Gbps performance since I'm still on gigabit.

I booted into live FreeBSD which did show the igc0 ethernet messages at boot, but ifconfig only showed lo. I should get a smaller m.2 disk for it soon to test OPNsense on it since it would make a good backup firewall

@bartjsmit did you order from their web site? Is the system complete with power supply, active cooler, and the metal top case? I wonder because they offer all these items separately.

Hi Patrick,

Yes I ordered from the website and all items you list were in the box, apart from the metal top. Input power is USB-C PD standard, claimed to be 12-20V but it will only run off the 65W/20V outlet of my INIU powerbank, not the 35W/12V.

The plastic top has been fine with a 2TB Sabrent drive under light to moderate use. It pops off to allow easy access to the m.2 slot.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the i-225LM and the i-225v NICs but I've been running two i-225v NICs for over a year now without any issues at all.

I swapped them out from a couple of 82576 cards. They showed up when I booted it back up, and all that I had to do is assign the interfaces. The speed/duplex is set to default, and they always show "2500Base-T <full-duplex>".

I have 1200/40 service through Comcast, and it always tests at ~1100-~1300. They have been rock solid.

Are they official Intel i225-V PCIe cards or one of the many offbrand boards with the i225-V chip?  I'm curious if that makes a difference.

Also, it seems that the majority of complaints I've read about are for i225 built into the motherboard and people running Windows.

I got that they were PCIe cards.  What I was asking is if they are official Intel PCIe cards or offbrand PCIe cards.  Official Intel cards seem to be pretty rare from what I've seen.

I'm not sure where these offbrand cards are getting their i225-V chips from and whether the board itself has any effect on the performance.
