Default setup, but no internet access on LAN

Hi folks,
I’m a novice in this space, but recently got a Protecli VP2420 with OpnSense pre installed. I’ve reset to the default settings a couple times, followed countless setup videos, but for whatever reason my laptop (macOS) connected via LAN cannot access any websites via the browser.
I can ping IP addresses and hosts like google.com both within Opnsense itself and within the terminal on my laptop. I can also ping WAN, OPT1, and vice versa. Fwiw, OPT1 cannot ping any external IPs or hosts.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as I’m pretty much stuck. From what I can tell, it’ll the default config
should
allow LAN to access the internet unobstructed but apparently that is not the case for me.

Correction… pinging via terminal on my laptop to a hostname does NOT work, I get Unknown Host error. Pinging IP is fine

Okay I was able to fix this. I ended up removing my Verizon modem/router from the equation and plug the internet Ethernet cord directly to my firewall, did a factory reset of the firewall and everything worked!
